Fleetshield kits out climate train
The Dutch railway sector is firmly behind the Copenhagen climate summit and for that reason is using a special 'Beat the Heat' train to carry Dutch delegates to the Danish capital.
On Friday evening 11 December the train was waiting in Watergraafsmeer, right on time. No fewer than 11 carriages (8 with sleeping accommodation and 3 bar carriages) were used to carry Environment Minister Cramer and other delegates. Before departing the train made a tour of the Netherlands. After stops in Utrecht, Haarlem, Rotterdam, Breda and 's-Hertogenbosch the train arrived in Utrecht at around 17.00 hrs, where at the same moment the 'Beat the Heat' festival got underway in the Jaarbeurs. The train set off towards the German border at21.00 hrs.
The entire train is going to be affixed with Fleetshield film according to a tight schedule in less than 11 hours. The media have shown major interest in the project: Dutch television news and children's news will broadcast extensive coverage of the work.
