Public transport chip card in the spotlight

Fleetshield produced for Dutch Railways’ passenger division and the Ministry of Transport, Public Works and Water Management striking public transport chip card double-deckers to give extra nationwide publicity to the public transport chip card.

The trains are being manufactured under enormous pressure of time. To take trains out of service for the shortest possible time there is careful liaison beforehand with Dutch Railways and NedTrain ROH on when the rolling stock will be converted. In only four days the second train will be fitted with film, complete with Dutch Railways logos, first-class and second-class indications and bicycle/wheelchair pictograms. Because of the pressure of time we decided, in consultation with the client, to affix to the trains a special type of film that can be put on quickly. It is also a film that protects the rolling stock against damage caused by graffiti.

The first public transport chip card double-decker will go into service in April, the second in May. They will provide services according to the Dutch Railways timetable for one year. During the year Fleetshield will perform maintenance on the affixed film.
